2013 Building Houses in Ecuador

Hey everyone.

Sorry for the slow update, I have been pretty busy preparing for the trip (I leave tomorrow morning). Thank you to everyone for all the support and contributions you have given to this project. Thanks to some amazing support from the Knights of Columbus of St. Lukes Parish, who put on an amazing dinner/dance night for the project, and some more incredibly generous personal donations from the staff of Abbotsford Volkswagen (Jason, Rob, Ian, Jerome, Bill, and Augest), as well as Mom and Dad, Sue McLeod, Diane Stevens, Amanda Haluk, Kevin Doerksen (and Personal Best Martial Arts), Peter & Kay Sagenschneider, Ron & Heather Buller, Enid Frankgate, Tomasz Sosnowski, Marilyn & Stu Cunningham, Mr and Mrs Spooner, The staff at Regency Volkswagen for their help and donations to our charity car wash (JoAnne, Nick, Pierre, Ben, Sam and Michael) as well as Angie McLeod for her help at the car wash. With all your help, I was able to double my fundraising goal at $2,022.65!!! That's incredible! Hope to have some pictures up soon from May group who went down to get started on foundations and such for the houses. Trevor Buller - Help, Learn & Discover

Hi everyone!

My name is Trevor Buller and this summer, I am lucky enough to take part in an incredible endeavor put on by a Vancouver-born organization called "Help, Learn and Discover". Along with over 100 other volunteers, I will be flying down to Ecuador and building houses for a village in need.

Unfortunately, many families in Ecuador do not make a high enough income to pay for both housing and the education of their children. By providing a roof over their heads, these families can direct their income to properly educating their children, allowing them to break free of poverty.

I am so, incredibly lucky to be able to join this team and impact the lives of so many people! But in order to make this project a huge success, we need your support. It costs approximately $5000.00 to build a house and our goal is to build 20 homes this summer! My fellow volunteers and I from across the country will be working hard fundraising this summer and overall, each of us hope to raise $1000.00 for the campaign. Although it will be difficult, I hope to reach my goal by the end of May.

Any donation to this project is greatly appreciated! Every penny of the funds that we raise are held onto, not by the company but by our volunteers and directly used to pay for building supplies from a store in Ecuador. HLD makes no profit from this campaign and all the volunteers are paying out of their own pockets to fly down and stay in Ecuador.

When the project finishes in August, I will update everyone with pictures and stories about how your contributions helped these people in need! Thank you so much for your support!!
